Richard Hilton, Dealer Principal of Hopton Garage, has just returned from a week long trip to China courtesy of SAIC, MG Motor UK's parent company, whereby he had the opportunity to take a close look at the new MG6 hatchback and even take one for a spin!!

Richard tells us about the new, long awaited model, "the new MG 6 is going to surprise a lot of people. The build quality is as good as anything any of the major European manufacturers are producing at the moment and the drive is superb. There is plenty of power in the 1.8 litre turbo unit, and it is delivered smoothly and with great response. We would have loved to have a diesel at launch but this will still be a great start to an exciting future for the MG 6 model range."

Although UK specs are yet to be confirmed, the new MG6 benefits from UK design and engineering by SAIC's technical staff at Longbridge, and will carry on the hertiage of the great MG saloon vehicles of the past. The car that Richard got to drive included a spec that featured highline sat nav, reverse parking camera, reverse park assist, full leather sports interior, trip computer and much more besides - hopefully much of this will appear on the UK car!

Richard went on to say, "The new MG6 is smaller than a Ford Mondeo but larger than a Ford Focus, so really sits in its own niche position, the benefit of this is that it will appeal to a huge range of customers. The really good thing is that the MG6 does not feel like a big car to drive, but has big car benefits - the boot is huge! Nearly 1,400 litres of boot space with the seats down!
I have been highly impressed by the new MG6 and cannot wait for it to arrive in our showroom later this year. If the specs stay similar to the Chinese model line up and the price is as competitive as the MG TF, then both we and the customers will have a real winner on our hands!
The car is billiant to drive and has real road presence. With the other MG6 that was following us, it reminded me of the first time a MG ZT roared into my rear view mirror, and that was a fantastic feeling back then, and it is tremendous to get that feeling again today with the new car. I am really happy with what MG have achieved!"

"I think those customers who are looking to replace either their (MG) ZT or (Rover) 75 will not be dissappointed by what the MG6 can offer. The new car will definitley appeal to fans of the MG ZS 120, but does not quite match the raw grunt of the MG ZS 180." Richard added, " If this is the future of the MG product then I am very proud to be a part of this new era for MG as there is a lot of exciting things to come, and the MG6 is a fantastic benchmark for that."

Sadly, most of us are going to have to wait before we can takee the priviledge of driving this exciting new car - demonstrator vehicles will not be ready until late November 2010 at the earliest, with the first deliveries of sold orders expected in December 2010 / January 2011.

Our sales team are now taking refundable deposits with pre-orders on the new MG6 - please contact them directly on 01785 251641 for further information.
